I could not agree with you more on this. I miss real hockey, when the bench would be full of black eyes, bleeding noses and missing teeth and the ice was full of fighting players, discarded pads and blood.

as wing fans we know that it is gary bettman’s intent to screw the wings in any way possible. honestly its ridiculous that he is still in charge of the NHL. the entire NHL needs to be upgraded and marketed better. Its so disappointing, that yes I am starting to think its not worth my time.

Tim,

The intent to blow the whistle rule is the dumbest rule in professional sports. It’s basically saying that, no matter what happens the refs have an out by saying they wanted to blow the whistle. It’s a child’s rule. It’s embarrassing.

I completely agree. How the fuck is “intent to blow the whistle” a valid argument? I love the NHL but goddamn do they do the worst job of marketing the most exciting live sport.

Did you also see the no-call in the Toronto/Carolina game? Well, the ref HAD HIS WHISTLE IN HIS MOUTH and watched the pile of players in front on the net while he just had to look down and see that the puck was in the net. The intent-to-blow rule is quite possibly the dumbest rule that still exists in the new NHL.

The refs aren’t blowing the whistles, but they are surely blowing the calls.

Holy moly, I concur. What was up with people yesterday? Almost every customer I encountered (at work), and later on (shopping after work) every sales associate and random douche bag I had exchanged words with were complete and total assholes. For no reason. I call shenanigans.
